Reception sofas, chairs and modular reception seating. Style and design, size, colour and upholstery cover can all play a part in the choice of soft seating. Reception seating can be an ideal design contrast to the hard surfaces of an office reception and reception desk, introducing colour and texture. The quality of reception seating also adds to the overall design integrity, with many 20th century design classics available to select from.
Reception seating is available in styles ranging from classic buttoned to contemporary steel and leather. The shape and size of reception seating is a key consideration, as is the clustering of the seating. Formally laid-out arrangements look great, but receptions with smaller asymmetric seating areas benefit from tub chairs or individual swivel chairs such as the Fritz Hanson Egg and Swan chairs.
Reception seating is often firmer than lounge or breakout sofas, for two reasons. Firmer reception sofas are easier to get out of, and upholstery will ‘puddle’ less over time keeping the reception chairs looking crisp and tidy.

Size of reception sofas and armchairs.
We’re often asked about the size of reception sofas and armchairs particularly when space isn’t unlimited. Working with an array of manufacturers allows Fusion to offer almost any style if seating with options on smaller, larger, and custom made dimensions. There are so many styles and ranges available.
The second most asked question is about fabrics, colours and finishes. ‘I like it but not in that colour’ is probably the first thing we hear when reviewing brochures. Modern manufacturing processes allow a massive choice of fabric, leather and vinyl in an amazing colour range. There are some limitations. Certain upholstery shapes don’t work with some fabrics, and fabric tension can be a consideration. But in general there’s an unlimited choice. We do offer advice on the choice of fabric. Man made fabrics are very hard-wearing but not as comfortable as wool. Leather comes in dozens of grades and patterns but some leather ranges aren’t what they seem. Leather can be made from scraps that are pressed on huge rollers, and some leather can just peel apart when made up from backing sheets with a facing of leather. We’ll guide you through the pitfalls, explain how different fabrics and leathers affect the cost, and suggest ranges that have the right colour tones for the design scheme.
