Bespoke joinery in 5 star London hotel.
Conrad St James is a well known 5 start hotel in Victoria, central London. New bespoke joinery has been delivered for the dual purpose breakfast area and Michelin starred evening restaurant. Designed to be sympathetic to the existing interior, but with a touch of added character, the 3 servery units are wonderful furniture items in themselves.
Creating Bespoke Hotel Joinery
1. Purpose made joinery. Designed to the exact requirements of the Conrad Hilton these 3 cabinets have a host of features. Two are on wheels to enable use in different areas of the hotel. They have integral illumination, and two have in-built frost-top / heating units under the counters. The kidney shaped cabinet also has a detachable front cover so that its suited to evening service as a hosting reception for the Maitre D in the restaurant.
2. Multi-purpose servery units. 3 cabinets can fulfill duties for breakfast servery. With integral chilled or heated surfaces the cabinets are used by chefs for display. Being on wheels the servery units can be used for bar and reception roles on different floors. The smallest cabinet can be used as a lecturn in the conference suite. All designed in from the outset.
3. Bespoke joinery supports hotel functions in so many ways. These high quality cabinets are so versatile. Hotel staff are already seeing uses that weren’t part of the original brief. An investment in well designed, well made, joinery maximises the benefits. Staff can focus on delivering 5 star service knowing they have the furniture required.
Designing the units started with the dimensions to ensure its a fit into the space. The kidney shaped mobile unit includes a chiller for display of chilled foods at breakfast, and to be mobile. Fitted with hidden castors the unit moves easily on the hard floors. The frost-top unit chills to -5 degrees and heats up to 120. This will allow a chef to use the servery for on-show food prep. The detachable front door is left off at breakfast to have plates and glasses visibile, and is attached in the evening for restaurant service when the unit is used as a Hosting point.
The small juice unit is used for extra servery surface, plates and glasses.
The large static credenza is also fitted with a frost-top unit and is primarily aimed at breakfast service.
The materials used are stained oak for the reeded panels and veneered surfaces. Brass metalwork is a strong design feature framing the shelves. The tops are all in marbled Dekton which is a type of ceramic. This is specified for use with integral chiller units as its a good material to convey the chilled or heated temperature.
As well as the 3 bespoke joinery cabinets, Fusion have also carried out some modifications to existing low coffee tables in the adjacent coffee lounge. A number of tables had been made at coffee height, around 500mm, which was too low for the type of service. The coffee lounge has become more of an events / breakfast overspill are requiring dining height tables. Fusion have designed an add-on plinth in a copper laminate that matches some of the details in the room. 8 coffee tables have been converted as well as a very large dining table top which sits on top of two existing round tables. This is used for larger parties as it seats 8-10, or as a serving table, but is easy to lift off and store when not required.
These two sets of bespoke joinery compliment the folding conference tables supplied last year, as we gradually upgrade joinery and tables throughout the shared guest and conference areas. Click here to see pictures of the folding conference tables supplied for a conference room in the hotel.
